Please refer back to this page
for images and details on our visit to this beautiful country
on the southeast coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. |

Belize became an independant nation
in 1981, formerly known as British Honduras. Mayan Civilization
thrived in this area from 1000BC to 1000AD, and there are many
temples, Mayan ruins and excavations scattered throughout the
country. |

Steve, Stacy, Terry, Matthew and
Melayne were going to take a snorkeling excursion to Ambergris
Caye (one of the northernmost cayes in this country's island
chain) The town of San Pedro on Ambergis Caye was made "famous"
by Madonna's pop tune, "La Isla Bonita".... But, we
cancelled it due to rain ... and our bad experience in Cozumel
with group snorkeling. Instead, Terry and Stacy did the ATV
Excursion and said it was a blast! Lots of mud and excitement! |

Melayne and Matthew walked through
the town of Belize City after a little shopping. They saw the
swing bridge and got to see more "traditional" Belize
City culture -- lots of great wood carvings and crafts sold
along the streetside. |

Everybody else just shopped the
little cruise-ship tourist mall and went back to the ship. |
